Mid-December is the start of our whale season, when the humpback whales migrate to our ocean waters for the winter. You might see the whales right from your Ma’alaea condo lanai, but for the best views, take a whale watching excursion. Our whales usually stay through mid-April, and are not to be missed!
For an exceptional view of Maui and the surrounding Hawaiian islands, take a sunset dinner cruise. The ocean and shoreline scenery is gorgeous, and our Maui sunsets are absolutely amazing!
Spend some time in town, taking in the Maui Ocean Center, where you can view extraordinary exhibits on the local marine environment. Featuring over 60 exhibits, the MOC features fish, invertebrates, mammals and reptiles. Feeling adventurous? The Maui Ocean Center offers shark dives in their 750,000 gallon Open Ocean exhibit. You must be scuba certified for this amazing Hawaiian adventure.
